Ngorongoro Crater: Wildlife Highlights
Ngorongoro Crater offers one of the best chances in Tanzania to see the endangered Black Rhino. This small population thrives in a protected and idyllic environment. Moreover, it is one of the few places where Black Rhinos continue to breed in the wild. Additionally, the chances of spotting leopards and black-maned lions are excellent here. Furthermore, many flamingos gather at the soda waters of Lake Magadi, adding vibrant color to the landscape.

Ngorongoro Crater: Maasai Village Trips
The Ngorongoro Conservation Area was initially created to preserve the Maasai people’s environment after they were relocated from the Serengeti Plains. These nomadic people build temporary villages, called bomas, in circular homesteads. Nowadays, tourists can visit some of these villages, which have been opened for exploration. Here, you can see how huts are built in a strict order, based on the wives’ chronological order. Visitors also experience the warmth and energy of a fire burning at the heart of a cattle dung dwelling without a chimney. The proud Maasai, known for their history as warriors, still herd their cattle into the crater to graze and drink, despite the predators nearby.
